About Music Folks

Music Folks is about the people who make the music: singers, bands, songwriters, players and producers. Each post tells one act’s story — where they came from, the records that mattered, the turns their careers took, and where they are now.

What You’ll Find Here

Some posts are short sketches of a cult favorite or a one-hit wonder. Others are longer stories of bands that shaped decades of music. We keep each post as long as the story deserves and no longer. Every post starts with a Quick Facts box so you can get the essentials at a glance.

You can browse everything on the Artists A–Z page.

How We Write

Music Folks posts are researched and written with the help of AI tools and published under the shared byline “Music Folks.” There is no single named writer behind them.

Every fact in a post — dates, chart positions, sales, awards, quotes — comes from sources we have read, and those sources are listed at the end of each post so you can check them yourself. We stick to the music and the public record: no gossip, no rumors, and no song lyrics.

Music changes fast. Bands split up, reunite and release new records, so anything described as current is accurate as of the date the post was written.
